Cookie Policy
DRAFT — not yet reviewed by counsel. This text describes how the website actually works and is a starting point for legal review, not a substitute for it.
The short version
This website sets no advertising cookies and no third-party cookies. Most of what it sets is strictly necessary for the site to work. One cookie is optional, does something we think is worth asking for, and is set only if you say yes.
What is set, and why
Analytics session
A random identifier that groups the pages you view into a single visit, so we can tell one visit of five pages from five visits of one page. It contains no information about you, expires at the end of the visit, and is not shared with anyone.
Chat
If you open a chat, an anonymous key is stored so that you find your own conversation again when you come back. It is a random value, not an account, and it is the only way that conversation can be reached — it is never addressed by an identifier in the address bar.
Administration
If you are a member of our team signing in to the administration area, a session cookie holds an opaque token. It identifies the session on our server and nothing else.
Analytics visitor — optional, and only with your agreement
A random identifier that lets us tell a returning visitor from a new one, count how many visits somebody has made and how long passes between them, and credit the source that first brought them here. It is generated at random, is not derived from your address or your device, and means nothing to anyone but this site. It lasts a year.
We ask before setting it, and no is a real answer: measurement carries on without it, using an identifier that expires overnight and cannot recognise you the next day. If you change your mind, declining removes the cookie and deletes the record it pointed at.
Your consent decision itself is remembered in a cookie, so we do not ask again on every page.
What is not set
No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no social media trackers, no fingerprinting. Fonts are served from our own server rather than from a font network, so rendering a page does not reveal your visit to a third party.
Managing cookies
Your browser can block or delete cookies. Blocking them will not remove advertising — there is none — but it may stop a chat conversation from being found again. To withdraw analytics consent specifically, delete this site's cookies and choose "No thanks" when asked again.
